Google Workspace for Education
Overview
All Pre-K to grade 12 students are utilizing Google Workspace for Education both in school and at home. Our grades 3-12 students have access to Gmail, with only grades 11-12 students allowed to communicate outside the domain. Our district currently provides a 1:1 Chromebook model to all students in grades 2-12. Traditional Windows PC computer labs have been eliminated or converted to Chromebox labs. Our Pre-K to grade 1 students are primarily utilizing iPads or Chrome tablets.

Our story of impact describes where our district first began with Google Workspace for Education and how it has evolved over the years. The use of this platform has had a transitive impact on both our students and staff by broadening the capabilities of each inside and out of the classroom.

Since the adoption of Google Workspace for Education, I have seen our district become more intensely focused on the professional development not only of classroom teachers, but also support staff, administrators, students, parents, and even members of the community. The truly collaborative nature of Google Workspace for Education has led us outside the four walls of our classrooms and into a more globally connected world.

Due to the advantageous pricing of the student Chromebooks, we have been able to provide 1:1 devices for students at our middle school and expand this program to the high school. We are able to purchase Chromebooks at the rate of four to one over what we pay for desktop computers. We feel that the total cost of ownership in a Chromebook world is far more sustainable than a Windows platform due to ease of management, device tracking, simplified updates, and pushing new software to end-users.
